McHale wrapper second dispenser

Hi. I’ve got a McHale 991be bale wrapper, has anyone fitted a second dispenser to one to speed up wrapping. I see that McHale make one with two dispensers. Is it a simple job to add a second one.

Thanks

We use a high speed, theres a bit more to it than an extra dispenser, sensors, wiring, control box software, second motor. No reason why you can't add extra dispenser , but the operator have to be on the ball when one of the rolls run out.

As much as I admire the can do attitude to stick another dispenser on a wrapper that you've already got, wouldn't it make more sense to p/x for second hand 991 high speed wrapper rather than go cutting, welding and bodging yours, which at the end of the day will never be quite right and be worth nothing because it's been butchered?

I wouldn't say its impossible to do but definitely not worth it,the hardest thing to sort would be the 2 speed drive to the rollers, plus all the sensors and wiring its a much more complex machine. As a side issue ,I like the Kuhn idea of putting 2 rolls of wrap through one pre stretcher which does away with all the sensors, cos one roll cannot break on its own due to the overlap in the middle, clever.Thinking about it,if you are determined, use a Kuhn dispenser, different gearing to speed up the rollers, job done.

im only going on secondhand info here but i hear murmurs that the twin dispenser 991's arent wrapping the bale 100%, i havnt sat beside one working to see what they are on about and ill reiterate its only what i heard, there could well be nothing in it but i do say, no smoke without fire.

Looked at a couple of wrappers and it does look like a fairly big job to add second dispenser and probably make mine worthless so ended up buying a new Kuhn 1610 twin hopefully be ok always had mchale but dealer was not keen to have a deal Kuhn a deal I couldn’t resist
