Meat: a threat to our planet.

Last month it was Dutch farmers in the Hague after dutch administration floated an idea about halving numbers of esp intensively farmed animals.
The other day it was Berlin
Today it's 1000 tractors in Paris...farm leaders demanding a private meeting with Macron...etc.

Common themes uniting all these include
- hugely biased anti farming / anti meat reportage in national media, fuelled by emotion and the worst quack science
- Physical attacks on anyone from butchers (France) to the kids of conventional farmers while attending high school (Germany, especially the rabid green south - Bravaria / Stuttgart area )
Probably too many bijzonder klootzaks at the Hague ,eh??

I’m currently in Argentina, have been looking at farms and soya processing. Currently in wonderful Patagonia.
There is no danger of Red Meat going out of fashion here just yet. Every night the steaks get better and Assado cooked lamb is to die for.
Nearly all of the beef is finished on grazing at about 14 months old at for us a light weight.
The soya production is highly sustainable on land that has been farmed for well over a century and 90% is no tilled.
Very impressive indeed.
You'd never know there were any other production systems around the world other than the US and the bl00dy Amazon rainforest cos that's all we hear about.

I was talking to a friend of my sons dad this morning on the school run.
He is a self employed contractor on a North sea oil rig and is a very intelligent guy.
He was telling me that his brother in law is in some form of scientific research and to get funding for their work they basically only have to mention climate change.
However the down side of this as he pointed out is that there is sadly no such thing as impartial science anymore and as mentioned on here previously everyone is just following the money.
Another little fact he shared was the Icelandic eruption of several years ago put more GHG's into the atmosphere than mankind since the birth of the industrial revolution.

Listening to Jeremy Vine earlier on radio 2, talking about climate change. He just could not let it drop about cutting out meat and going vegetarian. It was good to hear Michael Gove sticking up for British farmers and mixed farming.

Actually Gove was a breath of fresh air and put across carbon sequestration of mixed farming.
He even mentioned the NFUs net zero target as well

He was also bashing on about it this morning on his channel 5 programme but in a more subtle way by letting his co-presenter who is much younger report the vegan anti meat stance by referring to the BBC documentary programme earlier in the week. Final comment by the co-presenter was that she was veggie before the BBC documentary but now totally anti-meat.
Case of a brain washed BBC presenter now able to contaminate other channels in this case channel 5.

I don’t understand how the Greens can say that they want to encourage sustainable organic mixed farming, yet introduce a meat and dairy tax?
Had a read through the farming part of their manifesto this morning. Mention promoting regenerative farming and cutting down on fertiliser then introducing a meat tax. The 2 don’t really go together.
If they cut out the meat tax and reducing meat consumption it would make sense.

Yes overall Nicola was the most impressive. The Unions biggest problem is that she is sharp as a razor, very well briefed across the board, and highly articulate.
Alan Price, Plaid Cymru, gets the specific farmer vote for being adamant that agriculture had to be worked with rather than against, that meat was not the problem, and that UK food for UK people had to be the way forward.

Once again the reporter suggesting maybe ppl should eat less meat, they always have to get it thrown in.
