Mechanic charges

Windscreen wiper stopped working on our telehandler so I rang the main dealer to come out and sort it. We have got a really decent independent but he’s swamped and would likely need it for a couple days by the time he gets parts etc so main dealer it is.

they come out and rectify the fault, hefty bill follows. Maybe a week( might well be less!) after the original fault being fixed it stops again. Ring up very apologetic and put them come again. Once again another hefty bill.

now obviously the part cost are the parts cost, my question is do I have a leg to stand on to argue that they should’ve done a better job the first time and therefor it’s a bit raw to charge me mileage and extra labour the second time I am assuming that a degree of labour would’ve been shared ie taking covers off etc etc

Yes had a pipe blow out of crimp under cab of tractor rung dealer told them exactly which pipe it was they came out with wrong fitting. I made a point of asking if they'd be thinking of charging for the 2nd lot of traveling.

It's the mileage charges that wind me up. For all you know, they might have only travelled an extra five miles to your place but they charge the full whack.

What if you just say to come when they're in the area?
