Yes but if the member has included a location in their profile and you click on it, it takes you to the location.

I never knew where Hammerwich was before (y)

Well fascinating. I now see why some folk do not put any location in their profile. I had no idea that click on the location hyperlink and up pops a map taken to postal address. And silly old me thought if I just put Lincolnshire in to location that would be near enough and keep me somewhat hidden away. Didn't realise the TFF platform showed my front room! Hey ho. Every day is a school day as they say. Now if someone can stop the blasted The Sun notifications from popping up in my email then there is a bottle of cheer awaiting.

It doesn't take you to your actual address. It takes you to Lincolnshire - the county level:

Unless you happen to live exactly at the centre of lincolnshire.

Hi Chris F, many thanks for your reply. I realised after making the post and playing around with the link that only I could see that the system zooms into my postal address but for anybody else it would be the county of Lincolnshire. That'll teach me to not wander into sections of the forum where I do not usually visit and then to actually tr ti understand the software!!!!

Best wishes, JY

St Margaret church, Waddingworth is the centre of Lincolnshire. You can live there if you are dead. Can't say I have been, but horncastle is nearby and that's a shytehole.....and I live by Gainsborough! Horncastle is awful as it's a shytehole full of antiques shops and biddies. Most of Lincolnshire is pretty crummy tbh. Old people, decrepit seaside towns, inbreds, and recently arrived London pensioners from the east end. Morrisons in the GTown sounds like it's Albert Square now.

Louth is quite nice. Probably the best bit for little shops, scenery etc. Brigg is ok if you avoid the gopniks. Stamford perhaps. The north is a sad industrial wasteland, the east a crumbling coast, the south full of potato munching inbreds, the west has a river, and the centrish has Lincoln which is an overpriced glorified student bar.

@Chris F I was looking for folk in Denmark.

The county of Church spires. Possibly the county most endowed with magnificent churches. There are a few other architectural joys. Stamford is Georgian splendour, though the town civic greats just so want to be part of Rutland!

The rest of your comments are a tad cruel but can see your point and I suppose tend to concur!

I think norfolk might just hold the title of most churches.

Norfolk has that most splendid example of medieval England - Norwich Town Centre. Years since I visited. Wide open skys along the coast. Peddasr Way and the neolithic history around the flints of Thetford and central Norfolk.
And as you say many superb churches. So much to see.

Roads like the A15 should be stripped of the title "A" road. Diabolical. Local towns constantly looking to reinvent themselves. The whole county is just shabby and backward looking. Needs a motorway, some decent parking, and some decent industrial capacity.

The wolds are nice.

But it all needs a bit of tarting up, quickly. It's rapidly turning into a cheap dumping ground for the elderly. Like an enormous old people's home. Why local authorities can't figure out you need decent jobs, inexpensive housing, and support for young people or towns die I don't know.

The missed opportunity was late 80s when it was seriously considered to take a motorway spur of the M11/A1 north out of Peterborough drive it straight north to connect with the Humber Bridge. All cheap agricultural land with little in the way, such an easy build. Could have been dead straight.

In a stroke that action would have connected Hull and the East Riding of Yorkshire with London and made some use of that bloody great Bridge at Barton. Connected Lincoln and Boston and other towns to the south.

A golden missed opportunity.
