Merlo 40.7 cutting out.

As above our Merlo has started cutting out - changed fuel filters and no blocked banjos etc. Problem seems to come from the dash as sometimes it refuses to start and wiggling the unit or tapping the key switch it fires up. Took dash out and replaced key switch - got an electrician ( works on ag stuff and control boxes etc ) to replace as the key was part of a big sandwich of circuit boards and beyond our means. Even then he thinly cut the metal holding the switch replaced and job done. Seemed ok for a while but still randomly cuts out - rest of dash unit seems fine but problem still seems to be in that area - any ideas please.

Could be numerous things. Worth plugging engine in if it’s a common rail to check for faults. Most likely wiring though

Thanks for the reply - we found a repaired wire from before with a loose crimp - soldered now . !
