Merlo 32.6pl unless the boom is about 6 feet of the ground the Engine rev counter shows no revs and hence will not move forwards or backwards any ideas tried a new sensor on the flywheel made no difference. with boom at 6 ft plus no troubles at all, but have to be cunning tying to pick up bales. Any experiences?

WE think we have solved it just in the back beside the boom there is a socket that is used if there is a man cage fitted with the cage control. This socket although not used is there and the pins had corroded causing it to isolate everything to do with vehicle movement when the boom flexed the cable. Am now rebuilding all bits removed and be back on the bales when done, will post how the rest of the day goes.

We have tried a new sensor, ran a new 3 core cable from it in case it was broken. We thought we had found the problem when working in the rear beam pivot area, fiddling the fuel gauge lead made the rev counter fidget, working further in that area found the socket for the Boom cage corroded and thought hey presto it worked put everything back together drove up the road and then the problem kicked in again, a continuity test revealed a 4 volt from I am not sure where but when the problem happened (by lowering the boom) it went to 12 volts. It is as soon as you lower the boom it cuts out the rev counter.

Had help from a distant TFF er today very helpful but not solved the problem, it got even more confusing though when playing and crowded the tip mechanism (hard) and all of a sudden rev counter behaved itself all still ok when lowering the boom, but again the problem came to the fore after further playing. This seems to be the first time this problem has been seen so wait for more info or help from a Knowledgeable person

The problem is not completely solved, it cut out 3 times in unloading 2 trailers of straw but went again without me doing anything.
