Looking to do the first 500 hour service on my merlo 35.7. Got all filters from dealer, i was planninv to do internal services and have them out once a year to do major services. Looked through instruction manual and maintenance manual and neither mention how to access 2x hydraulic cartridge filters or even what grade of oil goes in the gearbox and hubs. It has a duetz engine and dont even have a book for that. Not one mention of oil capacities or f all. One wee list of what to change at 500 and so on hours but not where the filters actually are. Is this normal? Bloody cracking up with it.

Probably would be but but reluctant to pay £60 an hour just for someome to change oil and filters. Do the same with all new machines we get but yeh i do wonder if we ever get a breakdown...
I understand your point. And I would like to think they are doing more than just an oil change. I’m more interested whether the warranty is still honoured by merlo, as it would open up more customers to using me.

After the investment in a new machine would it not be wiser not to just dealer service in case of quibbles further down the line

Aw i should maybe reconsider my plan. I have asked the dealer for confirmation. Its not just hourly rate, call out charge and no doubt more expensive "merlo" oil as me buying exact same grade elsewhere.

Merlo, as far as I’m aware don’t do their own oil, they should have the spec in the manual for oil suppliers to match. So you can supply your own. The engine should be equivalent to Total Rubia works 2000 FE 10w30. Filters are usually cheaper from a deutz dealer and I use Donaldson filters where ever else. In theory any call outs will be breakdowns and should be covered by warranty in my opinion

There you go. I was lead to believe a top E9 low saps 15w 40 oil went in the engine.
