MF 188 PTO problem

168 has Gearbox spacer but no front engine spacer.
188 has both spacers and power steering. IPTO, mutli power and PAVT wheels as standard, But JUST to make things interesting, they could be down speced as an option !!!!
yes you are right have seen 188 on pressed steel rear wheels and no front wheel weights like the one the op has just bought, made it a lighter tractor as pavt and wheel weights would weigh approx 500 kgs ??

Yes, Most 8 line tractors in Ireland do not have multi-power or pavt wheels.
My one must have had the original wheels removed unfortunately.

^^^What's the point of it then:scratchhead:
The spacer is to improve balance for rear mounted implaments and more space for the driver.A lot of 5 line tractors also had multi-power and did not have spacer. Our 165 has M-P.
The spacer is what makes them such a good tractor, as much as I love a 35 an an excellent tractor it is but, the 65 being that bit longer makes it twice the tractor

Had it high hours?
Don't remember exactly? Maybe high 8000s , had had a few rebuilds too. We had the biggest battery you could humanly shove in there yet still it would crank for what seemed like an eternity at a snails pace too..

Regarding hours..that 188 was nearly knakered , where as the case 5130 that replaced it is still going strong ( now semi retired to spraying duties). It has close to 16000 on it and has done everything from pulling my laser bucket to mowing ( JD 1460 conditioner) to baling with a 605 Vermeer.
