Mid tier agreement,

Would anyone have a rough idea of cost for a nectar flower mix and flower rich margin seed mixes that comply to the mid tier agreement? Looking at the small print it seems a complex mix which i expect could be expensive. many thanks.

Are you in Severn Trent area?? Their conservation schemes are MUCH more appealing. Other water companies do the same sort of offerings too

Have a word with Kev Tregunna at @Great In Grass and discuss your requirements.

Some of the seed houses really do have some pricey mixes on offer. Not saying they are not good but.... ;)

Steve, no we are in Cheshire. North west water are doing a very attractive scheme also if you are in a NVZ. My nearest field is the wrong side of the road , so dont qualify. I will contact Kev, as it looks like you need a mix that qualifies and is down in writing from a well known seed house.

Bummer!!

My take is that as long as the seed labels and/or Invoice confirm the content, then you are fine. It doesn't need to be from a "big name" seed house. Of course if you have a difficult Inspector who wants to find the individual plants after, it doesn't matter where the seed came from.

Yes ,just got the go ahead for Jan21 start, although not sure if I will go ahead as there always is alot more conditions when the agreement arrives.
How have others gone on in previous agreements?
I've just returned my signed acceptance, yes always more small print than in the manuals/brochures to sign you up.

Any conditions in particular making you nervous?

The taking away of topped materials although I was not planning on topping, thought you planted the seed and watched it grow for 5 years. The other one was keeping cows off scrub till end of April. If our sucklers get short of grub ,that is where we put them through April . There is nothing too drastic but I've not looked too closely yet. Andy , good to know your on the ball , do you do it through a agent?

I think if you're talking AB1 you have to cut 50% rotationally and then 100% in the winter but I guess if you graze that is satisfied.

I intend to flail the 50% so that will shred the cuttings. I guess they don't want a drum mower leaving a windrow that would kill the area below it.

I did the application myself

Do you find out if you have been unsuccessful in getting into the 2021 scheme, as I have applied but heard nothing since. Thought they would have let you know either way!?!

Had to return my acceptance form by iirc the 20th November. In previous years I believe some didn't find out until March/April if they had been successful.

I emailed the person who helped me with my application, a couple of weeks ago, as I still haven't heard anything. He said he knows of some applications that have been accepted, but they most likely roll them out in December. He did also say they have been know to send acceptances out after the start date, so don't be surprised if they come in January
