Typical arla encouraging extra production when UK market has Enough Milk about at the moment
Do they think we are all thick or something too much Milk is what has screwed the job over the last couple of years
Banghead

Just because the uk has enough milk (and i think that questionable) does not mean that arla has all it needs.

The oversupply is an international issue. Due to competetive advantage world wide production could change at a completely different rate to the Uk.

It the slow speed of rises that is very frustrating

You can't have it both ways though , longer contracts helped them maintain their price for longer before dropping than the open market did , that's soon forgotten though, but you can just jump in and out of contracts as it suits you , just like we can't jump on and off the currency smoother as and when it suits . It's worth noting that it's only because of the currency smoother we're not currently getting 29.89p/litre , if nothing else changes that is where we will end up ,which is higher than even the M&S aligned are at the moment ! So not bad going really and is why Peder Tuborgh is saying milk prices are back on track

From what i read on Potter he sens to think Arla are sending out mixed messages.

Perhaps Arla don't have enough Arlagarden milk therefore need more milk from members or new members.

So with the currency smoothing and the levelling of prices how much longer can Arla be the driving force of UK milk prices? Where will the currency smoothing money come from if prices stagnate on the continent. Will they see a price reductions to fund the UK currency smoothing?

I've said this a few times and brexit will only fuel this more. British consumers want British products but how can Arla stimulate the production they need here without the rest of Arla going stupid in the country's that they don't need that extra production.
Arla Sweden has been hit almost to a point I wonder if they'll ever recover as they couldn't match the competition and as they can supply more than one supplier Arla have lost out.

I can see even closer integration coming down the line and there will be some benefits to that that I've got in the back of my mind all ready. But Arla will have to be more competitive going forward to keep the milk where they need it otherwise they will lose more producers.

is there a case for arla to segregate uk from main land europe
God I hope not , for twenty years we never got to their prices even though we have a better market , why , especially after it's clear they helped us through the downturn would we want to delink and go back to having the pee ripped out of us , do we think just because demand in the uk is strong we will be able to capture any of that value ourselves by dividing ourselves again .
