If we lift our protein from 3.1 and get the half penny production bonus we will be 28 p roughly in September. I would be annoyed if we got less than a penny, but a penny literally just keeps us quiet for one more month. But dad always says cheese is always 3 months behind the market, so I honestly think October could be a decent rise. But I'm not complaining, I'm reasonably happy that we aren't going out of business this year.

Genuinely concerned for FM, this latest news will do no more than assure those, who are under notice, they have made the right decision, those who have hung on will wish they hadn't and those who are undecided will now leave!

Because FM needed to be headlines above the others to stem the resignations. To simply be close to the Arlas isn't good enough when the market is up unless they are thereabouts when the market crashes. Don't get me wrong, with FM being the biggest true British CooP then it would be a disaster to see them slide backwards to where they were, so I drsperatiey hope I am wrong, but already we are seeing on twitter those sighs of relief from those who are going.

Where are the people that are moving from? Scotland/Lake District? There will be a big price gap between the highest paid fm member and the lowest. I agree with u, I worry about thier future. Massively. I'd like to move to yewtree

@westwards the Wales thing is almost the same as what Arla are doing with morrisons is it not but a lot fairer? The Arla/morrisons thing sounds absalutley horrendous, I'd much rather be with fm than Arla

Lakes, midlands and Wales (East) that I know of. Look if this move to drop A/B pricing and the milk price is sustainable long term and allows FM to weather future storms then it has to be good and FM need to get that message out there. But the real damage could be the affect on contracts due to a shrinking supply of milk. As you know FM are trying damned hard to recruit letalone retain, as such today's news needed to reinforce that determination. I hope it does.

So ur getting 28p and we r 28p in sept and ur worried for fm? Fm have basically had to start from scratch too effectively. Ur that free range milk are you? Our ground would struggle to alow us to be free range!

FM need to be honest with members and tell us where they are going to recruit when they are still behind the curve, and if they can't recruit what is it costing existing members to buy in spot milk to fullfill contracts. I thought with Shelagh Hancock now in place there would be a much need boost for producers morale and may be give us some hope of signing producers, but no same old bulltish !!

Think you will find there are approx 20 FR brands from single farms to groups inc Arla. That whole debate has been through the ringer more times than I care to remember. #ProudofDairy was a huge success last week due to producers from all sectors and systems getting together and shouting about how gd dairy is, it silenced the critics, pleased the consumers and proved you have more to gain by promotion than protesting. But some of your sector will always be looking for a way to ridicule fellow dairy farmers because it is easier than doing something radical and beneficial. Future shoujd be brilliant for all as this peak in prices could be the norm and not the exception.

I am by no means ridiculing free range dairy, did I give off that impression? It's a fantastic concept if ur farm allows it! If cows stood on anything but concrete at the moment they turns it in to a shithole! So free range is not for us I don't mean to downgrade ur concept

Dont panic I absolutely do not see you as someone who ridicules any other farmer or system, that accolade lies firmly with others who don't see the damage they do to their own industry.

I wouldn't say iv never taken the pee out of another dairy farmer, and I do like the take the pee out of Arla farmers, they r great fun. But I agree with u, we have buggered the job up ourselves

Rather than squabbling amongst ourselves we should seriously asking WHY IS THE UK MILK PRICE SO FAR (and widening) BEHIND THE REST OF THE EU?

Not the while reason but a big part of it is that the currency smoothing mechanism is holding Arla's price in the UK back and the likes of DC Muller and other will not pay much more than Arla because they don't need to.
