Milk Price Tracker

To be fair they have given them 12 months notice.

Bit strange that they aren't paid up owners.

Perhaps @farmer on a bike can tell us more.

There has never been ownership associated with goat milk. Contracts were offered in a similar way to any private company buying milk. There was no buying in or capital contribution associated with goat milk. Unfortunately since Arla have been losing money on goat cheese then it was decided it was in the best interests of the owners to get out of it.

How much is it to buy into Arla at the moment? Do you pay per litre of fat corrected milk or a litre what ever the composition?

Has been put up before, I will try and find exact amount (I think it's around 7.5 ppl )You are only able to become a member if Arla are recruiting milk or you are a new entrant which then it is decided by the UKAF board wether you are able to join.

Whats caused the crash in goat milk price/demand? Over production?

Clearly there is not enough demand for our soft goat cheese. For the sake of the goat farmers, i hope it will enable a clear run for lactalis with there Capricorn competitor so they can take on at least some of the producers involved.

Is there a big variation in price release dates.
Earliest and latest?

Before milklink became part of Arla it was always after the start if the month, like RFC. We said that couldn't continue, we had to be before 1st of month. Since then it has tended to be in the week before the week that contained the first. This still allows some latitude when some issue appears that causes a delay. Each business unit will put forward it's data and projection. Sometimes this will result in questions, recalculations and therefore delays.
