A nice realistic milk price coming. 28.4 pence, top bands, 3.21 protein 3.99 fat. Averaged 31 litres with a third of the herd grazing full time. Looking at 29 pence with the half penny increase and increase in our protein for September

I only had 15 pickups in August. If I'd had 16 then because of the way the seasonality system works that whole load would have been B litres worth about 46ppl so over £7k for a single load!

I have broken the 50p barrier once before but that would have been back in the organic days.

August/September would be my highest price now. By November solids will be higher but volumes lower so I won't see any volume or seasonality payments.

Money just moved to september?

It all averages out over time. Some months you win, some you lose. My milk is generally picked up about 11pm and between June and July there's a 12ppl seasonality swing overnight. I was tempted to go and give the driver £20 to wait until a minute past 12 before he started the pump .

Just worked it out and the difference would be over 2k. I should have offered to split the difference with the driver.

Just park a car with a cornish flag stuck on the boot in his way, they would never suspect you, a keen devonian.

Some bits are hard to explain but if you sit down and look at the schedule it's pretty straightforward really.
