Milk Price Tracker

Think you should re read some of the posts on here.

Milk sold on the Spot market is basically the odd tanker load that the original buyer no longer wants.

Like the last Turkey in the butcher's shop being sold for a tenner at 5 pm on Christmas Eve.
But nobody wants it because there isn't sufficient capacity in. the uk to turn a profit on it.

It shows the buyer is a one trick pony because he is selling it for 22 because he's doesn't have the tools to turn it into the 33ppl it's worth.

Anybody else on here giving milk to Paynes dairies and sick of Potter quoting a milk price before the 0.6ppl "management charge deduction" if you can not be bothered to research the price properly dont print an incorrect one and rub salt in our wounds.

Supply and demand then. But not that simple, cheese makers won’t buy just any old milk, where as the nestle factory down the road from me (powder) stuck some massive holding silos up when I was a boy so they could take the surplus floating around at weekends. Another local firm in the liquid market were very keen to buy my milk as they where having to buy spot to meet demand, it was coming from Cambridge, but they advertise as locally sourced and were very concerned about getting into trouble. They also told me it was costing 34p delivered in, having just offered me 27p, and look confused when I wandered off laughing.

What's peoples opinions on mowing in the morning? Had several problems here today and am behind on silage so probably wont be finishing until late today, got 20 acres to cut and I've always been taught to mow after 12 when the sugars are in the grass not the ground, how true is this? I want to make the best silage possible but also want to get it done asap and have plenty to get done at home asap. Ideally wanted to cut today to pick up monday but probably wont happen so could cut tomorrow morning at say 10? thanks all

In the ideal world maybe but just crack on.
Not seen a contractor set up so he can forage all day but mowers don't start till gone 12. Afternoon mowing will also cost you the best wilt of the day if your going for only 24 hours Wilt

Funny year for milk volumes as not up much at all considering a lot was dumped this time last year?

Barbers. May

4.56 bf 3.62 protein
Price paid to bank 28.16p
Seasonality-3.1
Eodc -.5

So this yr the seasonality for May is.5p worse.strangely though as we are not paid for litres we were able to get round this by selling less litres but more solids(pure fluke) so our milk price for May is actually higher than last yr using equivalent pricing.

But is your overall output per cow better or worse by selling less litres ?
