Milwaukee two speed grease gun

Hijack away, I've ordered my grease gun from Santa :joyful:

Though I can't have been as good a boy as @Getnthair if the sleigh is dropping off a complete cordless set there!

I'd thoroughly recommend Milwaukee as a cordless family. The performance is setting the benchmark that other brands are trying to emulate.

For example, the impact wrench is unsurpassed for nut bursting (and bolt shearing) torque.

Just love it when a plan comes together??? Santa may just be dropping of bits and pieces as I need to buy something - and get it dirty - now!!!!! Santa can I have a grease gun and .......

I haven't been a good boy as I've (finally/deliberately - delete depending on how cynical you are?) broken my 10 year old Makita Cordless drill - today.

Just in the middle of installing penning and 170 yokes and cladding a race with Stockboard so could do with a serviceable drill, impact driver and ratchet. If new ones overlap with existing impact driver and 110v ratchet then that is useful as I've got a team of men here on wet days - cos they can't do anything else after 90mm of rain since Friday. Plan is to finish these jobs before Christmas.

Note the generally good comments on Milwaukee kit from the "Cordless Tools" thread too. Just got to be in with the "in" crowd? FFX or TradeCounter, here I come.

Santa delivered a milwaukee m18-gg cordless grease gun

It's onto the third cartridge now, and is already one of the tools where you think why did I persist so long without one.

Fantastic bit of kit :sneaky: Far quicker than a manual pump lever gun. When my loader has a weight in the grab, it's tricky to get grease into the crowd ram ends. Tried it with the Milwaukee to test the pressure it produces, and it pumped in JCB HP blue stuff no bother at all

The build quality is robust, typical of Milwaukee tools. It's not the lightest, but with the carry strap across your shoulder, it means you've two hands to connect the hose if needed. Battery life seems excellent with 4.0ah batteries, into the third cartridge and the charge indicator is still 3 of the 4 bars lit.

G coupler / hose end thread, please read

Although the standard one is OK, I'm changing the end to a G coupler quick release type. After using that type on my manual gun, there's no way I want to go back to fighting with ordinary couplers.

I can definitively state that the Milwaukee tube thread is 1/8NPT @laich and @ACEngineering. You can get 1/8NPT threaded G couplers on special order, but I bought a brass F1/8NPT to M1/8BSP adaptor off ebay to make sure before spending £20 on the coupler and finding it was the wrong thread. 1/8BSP is one of the two "standard" European threads they supply (the other is M10x1 but I couldn't find an adaptor for that).

They're one of those bits of kit you wonder how you ever coped without one.

I'm tempted by one as well as we get through a lot of grease! I can't get my head around how it can be any quicker than me crawling about my telehandler etc with my bog standard Toolcraft pistol grip grease gun! I think I must be getting tight in my old age [emoji23]

It gives you a free hand. You can put the coupler on with one hand and the grease gun is in the other. Many times I end up trying to hold the coupler on with one hand whilst trying to pump the grease gun with the other which usually involves hold in the grease gun with a knee or wedging the gun against the machine somehow.
I had an electric grease gun for many years and loved it but it had a tenancy for air locks which is very frustrating. The fuch never air locks so I will stick with that till an electric cordless gun is made that accepts fuch style cartridges.

This is what I have only need one hand for the gun one on the coupler. Occasionally I get a loader pin I can't get enough force through the pistol to get grease into it so I'll use a conventional type. Once in a blue moon that happens. (I have big shovel type hands though) [emoji23]

I've an ancient deere branded one of those.

By the time you've pressed the pistol trigger once, the Milwaukee has put half a dozen squirts in, enough to force out the old stuff, and you're thinking about connecting to the next nipple. :D

Have you got the adapter for the g coupler end yet? Be interested to find out if it can stand the pressure of the Milwaukee gun.

Did it come from America or is it from here? Only reason I ask is I'm tempted to import either an alemite or Milwaukee. Anyone else imported a battery tool? If so do you have to get a separate charger from the uk or just change the plug?

No, just got the 1/8 NPT to 1/8 BSP adaptor so far. G coupler is in the post.....

I watched video of a G coupler connected to a pressure gauge, maybe on the lockNlube website? Anyway it was pumped to 10,000 psi without any leaks.

I'll report back here about how it performs once it has arrived.

I strained the jaws on one g coupler on a blocked grease nipple so if I feel that it's going to be a bad nipple I will use a conventional coupler.

I priced up getting a bare tool from America (no battery or charger). They are cheaper with the exchange rate, but once you've paid the shipping and the UK import duty, there's little to no saving possible.

Also America is 110V and I think 60hz instead of UK 240V and 50hz, so if you do import from the USA, the charger will be useless.

UK sellers quite often have special offers, particularly on the Internet.. It's worth watching out, I saved £30 off the grease gun price compared to on the Milwaukee direct Web.

And remember if there is any problem with an imported item it can be an issue
