Mini Road Sweepers

Does anybody know anything about mini road sweepers??

From what I can see it's basically either a Johnston or Scrab?? But there seems to be plenty of options even within those models.

Just want something reliable that may be parked up for weeks but that anyone can jump into and use when needed.

What would you like to know? What are you going to use it for?

Mini sweeper rally staging around the Yard :ROFLMAO:

General yard/lane sweeping and also think it would be handy up passageways and crush area etc, Would also want to get her road legal for gateways, could also get a bit of hire for her if I really wanted.

Just wondering is there any real pro/con points on the different models out there? any recommendations? Is there a limit to how much gutters one will lift within reason?

There should be a few ex council ones available in the spring next year so just trying to do some research.

🤣🤣 I can see it turning into a big thing! They really are all much of a muchness. Other machines may be avaliable but I would look for a good schmidt swingo 200+. VM engine, bosch hydraulics, claas axle. Hydrostatic transmission, disc brakes and van sized wheels. Most machines ex council will have been on r and m contracts so should be good condition wise. I'll pm the rest of the details later

3 in Brightwells tomorrow lot 68/69/72 - from memory very expensive new and high depreciation - often see leasing companies put quantities into auctions when CC update but you need to inspect any potential purchase in advance as I am sure there are plenty of electrics to go wrong!

The machine of choice used to be Schmidt, but they closed their UK factory quite a few years back and shifted production to Germany. Regardless of make they are very expensive to operate, brushes wear very quickly as do suction nozzle flaps. Water tanks and hoppers have limited life unless they are stainless steel, which few used to be. In the right hands they will do a lot of work, but you need to be doing the hours to justify the expense. Councils used to either replace after 3 years or send them back to the manufacturers for a full rebuild. Used to see a few at Cheffins going for scrap money.
