Did anyone watch Chris Packham's programme on BBC2 last night about controlling population growth? At last they address where the real environmental problems lie!
Yes. To be fair it was a reasonable programme.

He went off on one about soya for a bit, which got my goat - but otherwise reasonable. The main problem is population growth.

I notice he'd flown about the world a bit just to make a TV show and felt the need to go up in a helicopter for a few more camera shots, so a bit of 'do as I say, not as I do'. That annoys me a lot.

Don't know what he feeds his dog on. Presumably wheat, soya and meat!

First of several pitches I am going to make on this issue, sent to this publication: https://www.itsfreezinginla.co.uk/about

It actually wasn't going to be my first, but they were asking for submissions via Pitchwhiz anyway, so I took the opportunity.

I am not going to take part in any substantial discussions here on this forum, but folk who want to contact me with positive and respectful comments can do so via Twitter (@RobinWhitlock66 ) or by email ([email protected]).

Have a nice day. I'll update you when I make another pitch and/or I get an acceptance.

Catchy title for the website but its sounds full of trendy marketing jargon, full of smoke on mirrors, Who on earth is it aimed at? Not the average person in the street, who's attitudes and habits you may have to change.
I have spent most of my working life in health promotion, I know all the jargon words but never use them, its often a barrier to understanding, the best health promoters often deliver their messages simply in language anyone can understand, even very complex ideas. They also like debate, because you only know what you know, and its what you don't know is usually the problem.

Ok I'm confused. Has this been republished or have you just got a lot of time on your hands Honeyend? I doubt today's Gruniad would publish that cos they're even more woke these days.

That was doing the rounds on social media yesterday. Personally I hadn't seen it myself so if others haven't also it just goes to show what a flip flopping go with the money person he is and weakens any other argument he tries to put across.

The only worthwhile thing to take from that Monbiot article is the reference to Simon Fairlie. A top bloke, who, unlike the Moonbat, has had his hands dirty all his life so knows, absolutely, what he is talking about.

That's interesting. The first I've heard about wooden towers. They wouldn't be good for offshore wind farms though of course, but onshore wind, maybe a possibility.

Whats wrong with timber at sea. Have you not seen sailing ships. How long do you want the timber to last, Cutty Sark, Great Britain just to name a couple of old ships. Still lots of new ships being built with timber decks.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
