MTX 150 PTO

I've got an MTX 150 hooked up to a new to me mower and was just testing everything out before go time gets here.
PTO runs fine until it hits about 850 rpm. Then kicks out and the green light flashes for about 5 seconds before it can be re-engaged.
Tach seems accurate. The speed sensor is showing that I am moving while the pto is running for some reason.
The pto will kick out in 540 as well at about 500 rpm.
Any ideas why this is happening?

If it runs for a bit and then kicks out I find its often the pto brain thinking that the pto speed is too different to the engine rpm and it thinks the clutch is slipping. Check the belts to the alternator are good and tight and if they are fine its worth reprogramming the pto speed sensor. You will find the procedure on here or somewhere on the net I am sure because its a common enough problem

Also check the alternator wires - the smaller one has a habit of breaking inside the insulation - oh and whilst you're under the bonnet check the wiring to the positive stud on the cab bulkhead.
