I find with a big bucket digger can't handle the weight working the wrong was as oo much weight away from digger.each to their own but right way round works and suits me anyway.

plus with the bucket on back to front you don’t have as much dig force in the stick, as it’s designed for pulling in “digging” not pushing out.

We have tried the 20 tonne loading from the ground, face shovelling. Works ok but not really any advantage over a big tractor loader.. then you have to get it there and then dig the tracks out at the end. Have to be a big job to be worth the hassle. Digger won't sit on our rotten muck very well here, just get the thing in a mess. Any time I tried a fork lift it just spun around all over the place.. the long reach loader tractor has loads of grip and running teleporter attachments is good output. Plus you can park it on clean ground for getting out..

Our sludge has been loaded into the spreaders by a 12 ton slew machine this year,,,,,,, brilliant, never want to see another loading shovel on the muck heap again!!!!!!!!!!

I have spent too many days wallowing around on wet slippery ground in telehandlers or shovels trying to load spreaders, if its wet like that best in a slew as you say. 13 tonne machine is ample, easy keep on top of loading and nice gentle work, not revved up like a telehandler. Also being perched on the heap you can see into spreaders nicely.

Just wish I was better on a digger tbh.

A big bucket. A 13t machine should have more power than a telehandler and you don't think twice about a 8ft bucket on a telehandler
I wouldn't go any bigger than mine and its 8ft wide ald manitou one. Any bigger and it wouldn't handle the weight loading. Especially when your on the human stuff, even some proper rotted cow stuff you can be on your limit with full buckets.

Ye 8ft is ideal but using the standard digging buckets for a 13t is painful. I used a 13t loading sewage sludge and we borrowed and ditching bucket off a 20 odd ton machine and that was far better. Needed something a fair size or the sludge would just get stuck in the bucket aswel!

A manitou one is also a lot lighter than a proper digging bucket which helps

We had a bucket built out of Hardox by Cherry Products. Very well built but also lightweight. We have got an old bulk handling bucket we used to use before we bought this one which we no longer need if it’s of any use to anyone (just requires some welding on the bottom)

Filling 12 ton spreaders in 3 fork fulls working away from the slew. That 816 has long tracks and is very well balanced. Can’t think of ever having the backend lift off the ground. As you said each to there own works for me. Could really do with a heater in it for cold days tho.

Sorry 816. It’s the 820 chassis with the 814 engine ?? it’s painfully slow to move anywhere with it being near 19t and lucky if it’s a 100 horse. But once it’s there it’s nearly unstoppable.
My 814 is slow enough on tracking really it’s a nice walking pace no more good old machines though
