Anyone else watching muster dogs on Netflix??
Talking to some Aussie mates, it's really opened the eyes of a lot of property owners as to the abilities of dogs.

And some "pro" dog handlers have been shocked by the poor standard of dogs on the TV 🤣.

But either way it's supposed to be very entertaining.

On kelpies generally, the past couple of years have shown me that the standard of kelpies in the UK, as abroad brush generalisation, is fücking woeful.

I found muster dogs good, but a bit dissapinted it was cattle not sheep.
All the dog trials here seem to be mostly Black and Tan Kelpies, especially the yard dog trials.
There are more collies in the 3 sheep trials.
I have some terrific Kelpies. My male works wide and sometimes to wide and does not pressure the sheep enough. His father has done very well in dog trialing completions too.
My bitch comes from someone who does lots of trialing and her sister won a lot of trials in the last year.
I have 4 pups from them which are one. They are all variable in the way they work, but are all good and just need more training.

The bloke i got the bitch off said she probably has the crean gene as he usually gets one in a littler. My male must also have it as I am getting heaps, and other colours. Crean kelpies are usually more yellow and mine are exceptionally pale. The Silver one is also very rare and I'm not sure how That works genetically.
Here is a photo of their older brother who just turned 1.

I thought it was fairly average and the final trial at the end was unfair. attaching a rope to young dogs so you can catch them works well though and they do behave better if you are holding a plastic rake.
