Full rate roundup going on with wetter . Was cut two weeks ago , been waiting for it to grow back
Advantages as i see itc,the docks are fresh so hopefully will get a good kill , disadvantage over pre harvest, ive lost two weeks at least and now there is growth to deal with

Looks like good results in far from favourable conditions. If you don’t mind me asking what sort of coin for the drill? Looks to be a nice simple drill with not too much to go wrong.

Long term Ley is establishing well. However… In my opinion it should have been drilled twice over in a diamond pattern. Why? Because grass tillers in a circle and stops when it meets its sibling next door. This means that it will not fill in those rows and there will be gaps/rows in the crop for years to come. This gives great opportunities for weed grasses and weeds to establish quite quickly in the gaps. If cross drilled twice, half rate each time, the ground would be throughly covered by tillered sown grass very soon, decreasing weed infestation and increasing potential crop yield.

Just my experience as a humble peasant grass farmer.

The crop in the picture wasn't drilled by a close spaced drill though, quite obviously. I take it that the picture of Aled's outfit is of a recently bought close spacing one then.

Brilliant weather currently for establishing grass this way.
