Hello all (on this thread),
B&B/Pig Man, Muddyboots, JCfarmer, static and 07Tractorman, I would welcome you to visit us here in Worcestershire, on one day to suit you all, so that you can see the farm (crops) and drills, and have an interesting discussion.
That way you can see the results for yourselves; see strip-tillage drilling working successfully in conditions that a JD750 would fail to impress – heavy clay, with all previous crop residue on the surface.
As Rob1 so correctly put it, speak to those that can. Please do come along for a bit of crop walking followed by a plough man’s lunch!
Can I propose either Tuesday 19th or Friday 22nd November as a possible date!?
I may be interested in this Martin , cheers. Will be in touch.

I'm pretty sure it was a Claydon hybrid @07tractorman used - definitely a Claydon anyway.
We lost 200 acres wheat, 100 winter barley and 200 acres rape only just covered its cost drilled with a claydon v drill last autumn....
Also 500-1500 acres in few miles of us failed with min till, horsch, vaderstat drill.
Also ploughed ground combi drilled ripped up and planted again in spring..
Our 330 acres w barley looks best its ever looked (bit yellow perhaps)
W wheat behind rape looks fabulous all drilled with claydon hybrid..
If these drills are not used at right time in right conditions they won't work as well.
I have 250 acres w wheat still to drill. New seed in shed... Might give it a go end week if forecast does what it says..
If not I'm not worried it will go back in with s barley or beans..
Next yr will have 300 acres w rape so should all be drilled up early enough.
That is the key with any direct drill. Get it in early..
And grow the crops that allow you to do this..
300 w rape and 300 ish w barley leaves 300 1st wheat so should be ok.

I like your honesty .Completely agree. My agronomist said wait till october to drill no way crops need to go in reasonable conditions to establish .some ground will give you no Mercy especialy when wet. We need to be more open and not panick if conditions are not suitible to plant .

Yes, completely new design. :)

I thought you guys were taking an unhealthy amount of interest in our 750a at the drill trial !!

I reckon I could take a fair stab at the basics of its design ;) bet its a disc, individual coulter depth control, seed and fert
