had mine suspended the other week due to security breach. Perhaps they are tightening up on such, no bad thing really I suppose. But being forewarned would have been helpfull, not just finding out when you try to log on.

its to do with money laundering  i have banked with natwest for 30 years and they have asked me to take in photo id to prove who i am i poliltly refused if they suspend my accounts i will move banks.as usuall a ridiculous law that only seems to effect the innocent not those who are master criminals like that drug dealer who has been given the option to pay back 29 million or do another 10 years no brainer ill take the 10 years

No

Glad I paid the Hester £1000 arrangement fee on my mortgage 4 years ago on a LTV less than 60 per cent and having banked with them for over 30 years

over the years I've been allocated various "personal" bankers from NatWest, based in various branches up to 50 miles away, seems anywhere but my local branch, couldn't see the point of them and the only time they ever contacted me was to try to sell me something or try to get me to tie my cash up in some crap interest paying account.

But the lastest one is based in my local branch and seems on top of his game, has flagged up a few things and contacted me on my mobile and sorted things out quickly, doesn't seem to be concerned with selling me anything, obviously wants me to keep as much with NatWest as pos but that's his job....and i'll keep him on his toes! :sneaky:

Been with Nat West for 30 odd years, totally diss illusioned with the lot of em,no better than common thieves IMO,so glad I took out a biggish loan with them at 1.5% over base 7 years ago before all this nonsense started, they have told me on several occasions they are losing money on it,but as long as I don't break their terms there is nowt they can do about it.Fred Goodwin came within a whisker of bankrupting this country, not just his own bank.

Well HSBC are effing usless ever since a very good lady left our area who came for a farming background and understood the job. I'm off !!!

Any views on Lloyds or barclays for business.

Got to say I find Nat West particularly bad. A family friend died recently (who banked with Nat West), wife is an executor. It was a struggle opening an executor's account but she did it. Today she went into the branch to pay in some cheques from the sale of the deceased's shares (several thousand pounds) with a copy of the letter they sent to her at our address confirming the account details. She pays the money in no problem and then asks for an account balance.

No they can't do that without ID!

FFS she has a letter from them in her hand and has just paid several thousand pounds into the account; who else is she going to be than the addressee of their own letter?

Muppets the lot of them.

I have the head ag guy as my business advisor and he has been superb helping me get going and very positive towards possible future ideas.

Are you a business customer or do you make use of free consumer accounts? If a business account, do you have a dedicated manager and a 'business relationship manager'? NatWest are very good at this kind of thing normally. It all depends on whether you cultivate a relationship with them and make use of their services. If you don't, you are faceless to them as much as they are to you.

Maybe you should be thankful natwest haven't deliberately made you insolvent and then asset stripped you.

http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/business-25085382

There is that, yes.
If it is found that they fraudulently pushed small/medium businesses into insolvency in order to profit from asset stripping, there will undoubtedly be hell to pay. I wouldn't be at all surprised. Just as Barclays went wild with lending during the late 1970's and went into a frenzy of foreclosures in the early 1980's, NatWest went bonkers in the 1990's and are still trying to claw back money and increase income from their customers now. Having said that, they are apparently very keen to lend to good businesses at the moment. That's their public stance anyhow.

When I first started up I started a business account I was about 18 then and knew who my business manager and had a couple of loans ect had 2 or 3 managers over the years then they changed to a manager that covered loads of branches he was based in Leeds! I'm in Derbyshire then it was one in Sheffield now iv no idea last one messed my other business account up I have with my mother instead of puting my name on it makein it joint the made my other account the same name as my mums never did sort it just told them to put it back as it was all this on the phone. I went to them in 2011 and asked for a mortgage on some land they came out told me I was mad and shouldn't buy land at that price and said no would have to have a personal mortgage said they would get in touch still waiting! Went to AMC and sorted it I'd swap to them as they wanted me to think its Lloyds that are AMC? But nearest branch is a good way from me and natwest is local so paying in is handy

Wish I had your confidence.

A Client has asked me to approach NAT-WEST to transfer his accounts to. Between Personal, Business and his Pension Fund account, there is over £400K in Cash, and Assets of £2.5M. He does wish to borrow, but might require short term facilities of a maximum of £200K in future.

They do not seem interested, and are asking for a list of items, as long as my arm.

12 months statements for each account, professional valuations on all the assets. Cash flow forecasts, personal ID, etc. etc.

This is from someone with balances of £400K he is prepared to transfer to them, and does need to borrow.

I give up.

Go to Aberystwyth and talk to the people who can make decisions directly. The public face of NatWest Agricultural banking resides there. His name is Graham Harvey. No nonsense, direct, and a nice guy. Ask to be referred and/or arrange a meeting.
You can surely appreciate that they would wish to know as much as possible about a potential client before lending to them and they can't just take your word for it?

They will probably not lend to pubs or residential property developments though. Several have gone to the wall or are nearly at the wall locally due to complex mortgage products involving interest rate swaps. Not through NatWest though as far as I know.
