Morning, looking to build a new earth bank silage pit this year, needs to conform to sepa standards so I need an engineer to design it. I'm im NE scotland, would anyone have any recommendations as to who to use? Idea is 30m x 12m ish floor and earth banks, asphalt floor. Ideally a 1m high kerb but I had a quote and its expensive. Road kerb enough? Poured?
Any pointers would be great, thanks

Have done a lot of earth bank silage pits in my previous life...
Road kerb is perfect and cheaper than a poured wall. Depending on the lye of the land ideally you would want no less than 1in100 fall from back to front and 1in 50 fall to the side. Road gully at front corner connected to effluent tank.
50mm asphalt on a 50mm bitmac layer on a 150mm thick layer of type 1 sub base on 200-300mm thick layer of crusher run. However the bottom layer depth (crusher run) is dependant on the ground conditions after you have excavated down to formation level.
What part of NE Scotland are you in?

We are not far from Aberdeen. Id really like a good sized kerb to keep the pit tidy but if its too costly then can settle for low one. It will be dug into a shallow ish bank and should be good hard ground, not rock (hopefully)
