My old boss had a tf42 ,18ft header ,really dry wheat straw came out smashed to dust ,,it was a bugger to make a solid round bale and with the choppers running ,it made 180hp work

A friend bought a 1 year old TX46 from APH, the year HN brought out the TF 78 (1994) for £90k 2nd hand.

It is a bit of a myth regarding the straw mangling. Worst were the Claas 7 drum CS’s, Then the IH Axial Flow, followed by the TF’s.
If the straw was coming out the back too smashed up, you were almost certainly overthreshig at the drum in the first place.

Cotswold Combines still look after no end of TF’s.

Probably one of the best ever value machines to buy 2nd hand. But the 70 series electronics are getting hard to find now
