Pricing a jcb 538-60 to replace previous. Currently 125hp and seems enough for normal dairy loading duties.
anyone gone to 145hp and is there much advantage? Old one seems to use plenty of fuel so don’t want this to rise. Not much towing or clamp work.
Anyone want to make an offer for 67 plate 536-60 with 3900 hrs? Pm if serious.
thanks

If you manage fine with the 125hp get another the same.

I'm fairly sure jcb dont make a 536-80 but they have it advertised in the link posted.

We got a new 531 with the 125hp engine thinking it was a good replacement for a older 530 with a 120hp engine but the new one was gutless and ended up going back to JCB as it was so much trouble at less than a year old and we got a 536 with the 145hp engine which is a lot better

Because it’s a stock machine the 145hp machine is a fair bit cheaper. I’d rather the potential extra fuel consumption didn’t erode the initial savings.

A bigger engine working in it’s comfortable zone will be more fuel efficient than a smaller engine working near it’s max. Resale value will be better too. Would say it’s win win win for the 145.

I have a 532-70 that replaced a 2008 531-70. The dealer stuffed up the order and specked the 145hp engine instead of the same 125hp on the old one. It's much better for towing and we've happily been lugging trailers around we didn't use to, though from 8500 hours to new makes a fair difference by itself.

The choice of transmission makes a difference to fuel consumption. Users of the dualtec transmission on the Agri pro have stated on this forum that it is better on fuel than the torque converter transmissions.
