New Land Rover Defender?

I've been told that the UK dealer principles have been invited to go to a launch event for the new Defender.

Any hearing the same or know any more? If it really is starting at £40k then the world is going mad, my last fully loaded 110 was only about £27k.

I don't miss my old one, but was hoping the new one would be slightly more comfortable. And better on fuel. and...

Plus if the start at £40k that means they will go up to £70K fully specced.

It’s a great opportunity for LR, no doubt about it. Question is whether the poverty spec will be a working vehicle or a will it need to be specced without carpets, leather seats for extra ££.

I’m a bit skeptical tbh.

I was told mid 30’s - over 100k will be possible and farmers will hate it

That was from someone on the design team at JLR

All LR 90/110 equvilants have always been utter crap. Worst vehicles to drive out there and I don’t care if they go up in value. They are crap. If somebody offered me money to drive one the answer would still be no.

I dunno. I wouldn’t do road miles but a 90 running on cherry round the farm as a bash about vehicle I could do. Not for 40k though.

Why? I just don’t get it at all. Buy an old hilux and put that on red and be comfortable.

Jap/German pickups rule. LR don’t get anywhere near their versatility and cost benefit levels.

I’ve got enough scrap axles and bits and pieces laying around I reckon I could keep it running!

But then someone wouldn’t pay me to drive would they? ;)

Good as no amount of money makes it worthwhile changing the radio station with your hand every time you change up a gear, nor having those stupid air vents at the bottom of the windscreen, or having to open the windows to avoid cramp in your arms, nor needing ear defenders to avoid the noise ..... the list goes on and on.

I get all that but sadly nothing beats a defender for seat height and door weight for opening and closing gates whilst lookering most of the day. You an arable man yes?
