I was told they are being produced in the new Slovakian factory.
More than likely. They have already strongly hinted that it won't be built in the UK, so the Slovakian factory, where they will also build the Discovery, sounds to be the logical location. That's especially the case when you consider that it will use a variant of the all alloy platform that the Discovery is built on. It will be interesting whether they manage a soft top variant in alloy that is rigid and strong enough. Somehow I doubt whether this platform is suitable for use in a pickup model, remembering that there is no separate chassis that a tub loadbed could be mounted on.

A separate chassis isn't essential to built a pickup, but it is for a chassis-cab variant onto which independent bodybuilders could supply bespoke rear platforms. Is aluminium alloy as a chassis, rigid and strong enough, torsionally rigid and crack-proof enough for a workhorse? It needs to be credible and capable along with stylish, desirable, reliable and competitive unless it is to be a flash in the pan.

Those early disco’s handled like a plastic duck in a fast flowing river. Remember test driving one and nearly rolled it on the first corner.

Maybe so, but at least you would have rolled over in comfort, and your right elbow would have been safe within the cabin rather than protruding out of the window to act as a pivot point absorbing the brunt of a Land Rover’s weight when it tipped over.

Lol no my elbow is always out of every car/truck window. Window down unless raining even if it’s -5 and I’m in a t-shirt. Only way to drive [emoji6]
