New low for antis

We have antis, but this is terrorism

Or maybe I'm soft??

Cute as those stripeys are. to a foreigner,,, vector control is a public health issue and needs to be addressed as such IMVHO.

^^^^^ It is a public health issue and one which .DEFRA have responsibility to control. That they prefer not to do, which is why they have dealt such a low blow as these culls, leaving farmers at the mercy of these 'terrorists' whose aggravated trespass, criminal damage, intimidation and harassment, the police have chosen to ignore. Picking and choosing which laws to uphold is not good.

We describe it as being 'thrown under a bus' having first been accused of causing the problem by bad biosecurity, bad farming or even farming at all. Take your pick. :banghead:

I love the comments re finding traps via drones on that Facebook page as the last week I have seen several people flying drones at road sides and they ain't kids. Any one leaving traps in the open must be bonkers or leaving multiple vehicle tracks across grass fields with no stock as it's perfect for the "Pixes" I guess.

Problem is Cadburys could very easily side with the mass population and stop sourcing from hunt sympathisers. After all the mass population are anti hunting and the mass population are cadburys core customers. I'm afraid the writings on the wall for all blood sports.

Are they? Or just those that shout loudest and claim to represent the mass?

Plenty in life I find couldn't care less......and all the more so if not asked. Get that average person to list 500 things they'd change about the country....and most likely hunting wouldn't even factor in.

Yes I think they are. The pro hunting are living in a bubble I'm afraid. Majority of my friends are non farming and majority of the people we deal with for work are none agricultural and I've yet to find anybody within the last 3 years that is pro blood sports in general. Some of these people are 'villagers' so are more rurally minded than the town dwellers. I'd go as far to say even half my farming colleagues are against it as many now don't participate. Shootings been taken over by a fortunate few so old fashioned farming shoots are all but gone. What's keeping it all hanging on is fishing as it's been put into the same group as other rural pursuits and the fishing fraternity is massive.

You are confusing the issue. What does controlling a grade 3 zoonotic pathogen (and its wild life vector) have to do with hunting?

Angling is the largest participation sport in the U.K.

"Villagers" are the worst of all, at least the townies are far enough away to not get so involved

And also one of the most difficult to justify in terms of welfare, when suffering = sport, with no option to put food on the table.

Fishing has become highly commercialised, in the same way as small shooting syndicates have been pushed out by big estates shooting more birds over more days.

I think it was Dorset hunt sabs who asked their followers for road kill badgers recently. Got to photograph them in a stolen trap and claim the government / farmers / pro hunt people left poor brock in the trap for days to die a lingering death. Those go fraud me begging appeals don't write themselves you know....

Be careful there.

There is a BIG difference between "pro hunting" and not bothered. Same goes for not participating - doesn't mean they are against it!

You seem to suggest that if you aren't pro hunting you must be against it.

Is there any evidence of that? If so it wants publishing all over social media to help oppose their campaign.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
