New mig welder

I can thoroughly recommend a welder from Phil Weeks Welders in Bath. Made in house with great back-up. The top rated single phase machine will weld with 100% duty cycle @ 180 amps and will go up to 250 amps. I bought one having used them at a friends engineering works.

Had a talk with Phil on Tuesday and ordered a 250. He seems to have an in depth knowledge of welders, I assume from the years of mending them. Hopefully this will be a good one unlike the last, at least with this one they should know how to mend it should the worst happen

Bit of an update. This came this morning and once I'd finished work I had a quick blast

Didn't spend to long getting it set up and a bit short on steel it did this

And this, not been near flat out with it but it knocks the old portamig into a cocked hat

A big thanks to @MOG for the recommendation, one hell of a welder!!!

Excellent. I hope it serves you well. The thing just feels quality I find, right through from the earth cable & clamp, to the dials, to the rollers. It gives you confidence that the bits inside you can't see are also top quality.

Big thank you to @MOG and @Tommy for your recommendation of the Warrior welders. My 250 mig arrived today and I've had a play around with it and it's an absolute joy after many years of coaxing the ancient Sealey. Very smooth and so easy to set up, just as you told me MOG. Very knowledgeable and helpful folk at Phil Weeks in Bath. Quality product (y)

so it will be a oxford 330 amp single phase,......not got 3 phase
but which one

anyone got the second one is it worth the extra

have they got a demo area to try one out ?

thanks
there's a fair bit in the difference of your budget there bob.
i dont exactly know what your going welding with either welder so i may be out here.

personally id only be looking at the pulsed version if i was going welding alu with it and tbh if i was welding alu id be buying a pulsed ac/dc tig up on 350-400amps, better machine imo but wayyy up there in money and if i was there i dont think it would be an oxford id be buying altho i do know when youd price the different brands up the oxford tig id be hard to beat on price so it depends on what you want out of one altho thats Tig.

re the mig, if your constantly welding light ms with the then yeah the pulsed one in your link would be handy but there is a steep hill in the coin for the luxury, altho if you were you wouldnt be looking at 300amps to go at the job.

would i be right in saying your looking for a decent amp'd all rounder mig for general ms work?
do you want to weld long runs of alu maybe.
that id be my take on things, and i have a oxford.
