It doesn't have to be like that.....surely the more people that the pursue it the more that will be learnt and this will surely benefit everyone???
Maybe putting "zero till farmer" in your Twitter bio is a form of psychology or self motivation...... Along the lines of "I've just told the world I'm a no till farmer I had better get on and prove it or I'm going to look very silly"
You might be right! I just get fed up with people claiming to be messiahs/experts and being all over the press about how great their system is when on reality they have barely started and its all based on theory. Prove you can do it for 3 or 4 years like Clive has and earn the right!

Long way to go before I feel like I really know anything worthwhile ! All I do is say what I see and have experienced so far without any agenda to sell any system or machine to anyone

MH or any other manufacturer really doesn't want to tell you to stop cultivating so it's no surprise they will talk about all the downsides and failures

But out of context but has anyone managed to find anything about that CleanSeed Canadian drill and what the openers are like?

David, do you think the horsch dd could be made in 12m form and put onto a sprinter 12 seedcart? The sprinter toolbar comes off quite easily by the look of it.

Think of a cross slot, but with a multi outlet tine set directly behind the disc rather than split either side. There are pictures of it on their website. About half way down this page is a picture.

their video
might give you a little bit of idea what it's about.
Personally with either the Horsch or the CleanSeed approach, I have to see their performance in the field, be it on the crop or on the steel, or more on the plastic from the Canadians.

couple of points
weight on the coulters is not the same as weight of the drill on a weigh bridge because it depends how much is on the drawbar

when my big disc is full of seed I get maximum weight on the closing wheel as well as the tractor
when I have an empty hopper the weight on the closing wheel is the issue 46 coulter 9m with a 5 tonne hopper
this would be no problem with a 30 coulter 6 m drill as the weight empty would be enough
the solution is to keep the hopper more than 1/4 full or drive slower

larger disc will reduce the wear on the disc bearing as they will do more miles per revelution

if fields are level then coulter travel is not an issue but how many of use farm on flat level fields
