The application says 'comment period has ended' this morning so someone is awake in the offices.....but there is no comment period etc so perhaps only half awake.

had an email rejecting the application. The general gist of it is that it's too big.
I'm arranging a meeting with the planners after drilling finished.

Our small brick cowshed was turned down for PDR as they said it was a stable (apparently it must be a stable because it has stable doors :shifty:). We decided to appeal so handed that in in April and after it finally being given a start date in the middle of June and then hearing nothing since, the inspector from the planning inspectorate is coming next week. Fingers crossed he has more sense (y)

Stick some calves in it, good luck hope you get some one from a legal background as inspector not from a planning one, they mostly support the planners view

Is it just as easy to go for proper planning?

I have a couple of old buildings I would like to convert in the farm yard. I just wonder whether its worth all the hasstle and restrictions, and its better to go for full planning and build it a bit more how I want it?

Far less hassle going for PD to start with, no need for full survey or justification etc, at least you wiould know what they are objecting to so could counter that if you wanted to put in a "proper" app later, from what someone has told me Wilts are passing some that are "old" farm buildings but turning down modern steel ones

Even with the PD we have had to submit a structural report, don't think it is easy in anyway or less paperwork, awaiting our 56 day decision tomorrow knowing that the Planning Officer in question will refuse, even though we have already been to appeal and this is a another application including a structural report saying the steel framed building is capable of being converted (this was the only thing we lost on appeal as the rules had changed).

same here have spoken to the planning officer and they consider all portal frame buildings to be temporary with no regard to design standards (BS 5502 and EN 1090) so why do we need p/p for a temporary steel frame buildings they just keep telling me they will win if i appeal my refusal for p /d

Whose dealing with with it Mike willmot ? Seem more than happy to have 1700 the other side of the railway and now are considering 200 between the village and KFC despite saying for years they would keep a buffer, obviously you didnt drop a brown envelope in the right pocket;)

So were any of the cathedrals built to design standards five hundred years ago, how these fools can say a steel frame is "temporary" compared to the match wood timber frame they build these day is a joke

Sorry Rob 1 , I am a bit naïve is the brown envelope something they use to wipe their posteriors with?

I really wish it was as easy as that! Also I wish that all Councils had to deal with it in the same way, it makes a nonsense that they can interpret the legislation differently. I am going to take this further whatever the outcome.

have you gone through an appeal for a previous application and if so what was the outcome if you don't mind me asking , the big problem here is the steel frame and the big six profile roof although eternit
show it used in there catalog as used for residential would it be worth getting a structural report done?
