New Quad

Just recently got a new Can-Am 570 Max XT. Partly due to browsing on here and seeing the generally very favourable feedback and partly due to being very impressed with the demo unit we had out.

The power steering is a revelation! Went for a T3 version with ABS so I wouldn't be limited to 25mph or whatever it was. (Just hope the ABS is reliable and doesn't cause issues!) Also I wanted the factory fitted road kit.

Got Can-Ams heated grips/thumb warmer and extended mud guards and waiting for windscreen to arrive. (Got used to that on the AC and miss it on the road!) If it does as well as our 11 year old Arctic Cat I'll have no complaints!

I see its set up for a passenger, what are the rules on that? on my honda it has a sticker saying no passengers. Looks good by the way.(y)
Thanks. I'm not sure what the rules are exactly! The reason I went with the two seater version is that our Arctic Cat is a two seater and I prefer the handling particularly out on the hill. Going up and down the steep stuff feels more stable with the longer wheelbase. Also the dog has become very used to sitting on the footplate with my leg round him so gives a bit more space! Plus it is convenient when you need to carry a passenger.

One thing I wouldn't mind getting changed is the keys. The two keys despite when you put them in the ignition one says 'work' and the other 'performance' both are the same with no restriction. I had hoped to have one with a limited speed to give family when giving a hand at lambing time. I'm sure the dealer can just program it. Does anyone know if you can specify a speed?

My first CanAm was a 650 Outlander Max, with the second seat back (which is removable). My old dog used to love sitting on that, leaning against the back. Very heavy bike if it rolls over btw.....

Any of the keys can be reprogrammed by the dealer, should you want them set to 'work' or not. Not sure if the limit can be varied.

Thanks, I was hoping to get one set to 20mph or so if possible.

Looks too good to dirty!

Can you give a ballpark price?
£8675+vat. That included the heated grips/throttle, the extended mudguards (which are definitely worth it as the back wheels on the demo had a habit of chucking mud at you!) and a decent quality helmet as well!

Even with the extended mudguards, you will still get plenty thrown up ime. Worth fitting some mud flaps too, if you’re going to do much in the wet.

I fitted some on mine last week, and should of had some years ago!

You taking one flap off for the rappa drive wheel?

And where did you get them?

They are just C-Dax ones, that most companies stock (mine came from Quad Bike Wales online). I mounted them on 2 lengths of scrap pipe and made a bracket to bolt on the quad, so I could slide them on and off in seconds. Left one will stay on all winter, the other slips off when I put the Rappa on (RAPPA frame is under the rubber matting). I could slide it back on when the RAPPA unit is lifted up clear, if I felt like it.

They stole my CamAm twice is 2 months, both times had to abandon it in the village because could get it started and got disturbed.
Its been a very good quad and is having some real stick at the moment in the mud.

Not personal, but hell that is a price for a bike, isn't it.
The Yamaha 550 that I bought for the gyppos was £5800 iirc, only 5 yrs ago.
Not the same I know, but that is nearly in decent pickup territory.
