Newbie grass cutting question

Hi,

I have my little mf 35x and have one 10 acre field to top, and two 2 acre orchards, the problem with these is there care a few old tree sumps have buried, underlations, a few branches I haven't seen to collect and lots of nettles and thistles. Basically been left for years.

I have removed as much as I can but need to cut, do I need a topper or flail? And can I use the three point hitch to hold either higher off the ground so I don't hit anything?

Or do I need to strim the lot first and remove the rubbish completely.

Thanks

Ouch. Can you walk the fields and mark out the tree stumps with say electric fence posts? My first instinct is to say leave it to avoid an horrendous mangling of said topper and mark the stumps out in winter when the grass has died back. Are you grazing it?

depending on how rough it is, a jungle buster may be the best option

cleared loads of gorse, brambles, bracken and rushes with one over the years on very rough land, will handle 6ft plus high gorse with the right tractor. Hitting tree stumps, and rocks will make it racket, but will not damage the machine unless your trying to smash said objects up.

used it on a 35 in the past, mainly for topping and light is scrub as opposed serious scrub clearance, but take it steady and a 35 will handle it fine

If I were you not knowing what the case is with tree stumps Theres a few guys around with the small forestry mulchers on carbide teeth on 120-150 sub compacts that will chew a stump to bits in seconds Hire them in for the first flail then buy a flail yourself, buy something well known not Chinese because of the price as they use obscure bearings etc and parts in a few years may price the machine into a money pit.
