" shoring up our economy by allowing them to buy high quality food that is cheaper from other countries."

He seems to have a limited grasp of reality we don't pay enough for food and clothes as it is. One gets the feeling his idea of the poor is anyone earning less then a 100k. As for importing cheap wine post Brexit, most of the cost of a bottle is under his governments control already in its duty and vat.

And his quote on safety regulations:-

"Britain could slash environmental and safety regulations on imported products after it leaves the EU, a Tory MP has suggested. Jacob Rees-Mogg said regulations that were “good enough for India” could be good enough for the UK"

. I am ruddy sure I don't want to risk my or my children's lives on food and goods that are only up to Indian safety and environmental health standards. :dead:

hardcore brexiteers don't understand non tarrif barriers

this is a great one for example from the recent CETA deal with Canada

This sort of regulatory harmonisation doesn't happen over night and thus, the idea of cheap sh!t quality meat being imported from anywhere goes straight out of the window

because it's always the same thick as sh!t hard brexiteers who don't understand the latter, they think you can import any old sh!t, remove all tariffs and there will be no repercussions , and if they're not thick as sh!t, they're being extremely devious in their words if they actually do know what might happen, rules are rules, brexit wont change that whatever deal we get, we can leave all the political crap behind when we leave the eu, but the market needs to be respected and evolved.

playing the victim card wont wash when people are pee'd as f**k when chlorine chicken is being imported, to save 20p, while our chicken exports to the eu are all held up at BIP's because we're a 3rd country importing chicken from somewhere that is banned from sending it in to the eu market, and thus, we have to prove we're not selling that banned chicken in to the eu market , you won't hear any of this from mogg as he doesn't care

Then you get people like walter that try and throw up all the barriers in the world to make it sound like it's impossible to leave, well if you go down the route of what mogg wants, Walter and his gang will be laughing and take us back in to the eu when the cards fall in via bad management, that is why i'm bored of these boring throw away comments mogg and the likes of Liam Fox are coming out with, it's either delusion or sabotage

The dysfunctionality of the Tory party, which led to the holding of the referendum in the first instance, seems to becoming ever more dysfunctional post the referendum !

The parallels between the British Tory party and the Republicans in USA in terms of dysfunction and day to day stupidity is really striking!
On top of that the day to day chaos of the Tory government and the current American administration is also striking!

Are we watching the end game of the two major western democratic powers?

I think so!

Seems Mrs May will have to go. Supposedly "unsackable" ministers directly contradicting one another in public. Time for the Tories to man the lifeboats!

Ruth does great job as Scottish Tory leader, next step to lead the party on national basis

Big Fish - very little pond with no sharks in the pond.

I have said before on here Scotland is quite a tiny region. GDP and population is less than the East Midlands, and only a tad larger than Yorkshire. I am sure someone on here will explain to me why we spend so much time over Scotland.

Sadly no person can do worse than the present lot
I am quite enjoying the pantomime.Never a dull moment with Boris! He has made up for his disappearance over the last two months.Trying to think if there has ever been a case in history when the British Foreign Secretary,s father went on television or other media to defend his son.
