NFU Forum 2022 - any sign of action or just more comittees discussing comittees

Any chance we will get anything meaningful from the NFU forum this year now that its back to a normal format? Let's hope there is less of usual back scratching and political posturing....

Do we think any meaningful discussions will be had around farmer/employee welfare or does that only apply to office workers?

How can we be paid more and operate our businesses properly rather than rely on government grants to remain properly?

Will they be discussing the Panorama exposé from last week and the real reasons why conditions on that farm were so bad?

No, No No No and No, they;ll do feck all like they always do, congratulate themselves on yet another year of being slightly reactive to a few events. All smiles, posh lunches and plenty of hobnobbing.

I despise the NFU, arrogant pompous tow the party line nonsense, esp those more senior ones.

What percentage of NFU members are farmers?? 20% 15% They dont represent farmers anymore

Well (hard hat on) Minette was on the news this morning and did a scathing job of the govt. food policies. As usual a very good defence of our industry. Raised the pig problems, labour issues , unfair competition food security etc.

Don't know what else she could do to keep some of you lot happy.
All strong words to a camera and no action, I don't see her organising any pig farmer protests outside supermarkets like they did in Ireland. She lets the supermarkets sponsor the event, "well done Minette".

Come on don't be so naive!!

Actually I see Red Tractor are sponsors too, gravy train continues.
Actually a very interesting list of sponsors, a list that just confirms my thoughts re NFU.

She is a great spokesperson, the best the NFU have ever had in that respect without doubt

just a shame she has nothing of consequence or use to actually say and is not really speaking for farmers these days more the sponsors and corporate members that fund things

We can all talk about the problems. Goodness knows there's enough of it goes on on here. The reason for paying subs to a national representative body is that they will promote solutions. I don't hear any coming from the NFU. Which, as others have pointed out, is fundamentally because they are controlled by, and work for, the cartel.
