NFU in the line of fire

No large organisation will ever represent all their members in a way that the individual member would like (having been to a few of their conferences it does worry me where some of my membership money goes!) but for all their faults, NFU don't do a bad job and with Brexit, it has never been more important that we have a strong voice representing us.
By & large, larger farmers have more time to stand for elections etc so naturally it will skew more that way.

I doubt if all the quotes in that report have been ethically sourced, have they been given permission to use posts off this forum??

[if you want to check if yours was one of them the posts from TFF are used on pages 29, 38, 39, 64, 69, 73, 74, 75, 76, 105, 114 and 117 at: http://www.ethicalconsumer.org/portals/0/downloads/nfu an english agribusiness lobby group.pdf ]

Good to see Mr Monbiot and friends are still reading, as ever the invitation to join and discuss is still open.

No doubt he is still To Busy.
@Goweresque @SilliamWhale @DrWazzock @Andy26 @gone up the hill are some of the many quoted

The interesting thing is the report seems to state that all the NFU does is lobby the government to try to get its point across. This statement seems hugely at odds with many on this forum who state that the NFU has neither the wit nor guile to succesfully lobby govt.

Who's Mr Monbiot ?

A fully "The Guardian" funded Enironmentalist "journalist", family originally from France - fled the revolution & came to the UK, who regularly attempts to destroy UK farming.

For example he quoted water usage by cattle based on the total rainfall of the area of farms in the Amazon ... just so happens to be something like 10,000,000% too large at his own admission some time later AFTER producing the article.

In the same admission he stated he never even bothered researching the white papers he used, he just puked it out verbatum.

it has to be said (and has been many times) they are desperately over due reform

UK ag needs good representation but not in it's current outdated form

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.

This webinar will be...
