From what I have been told and understand that the loss is after the mutual bonus is paid out.
The business has to have the right people and the bonuses have to be competitive for the roles and benchmark with a FTSE 250 company.

The Mutual made an expectational profit of over a billion few years ago.

@Salt'n'Pepper would you care to post a link to the story / current figures please?

If they report a loss and the valuation of assets was when the stock market was at its covid low then so what

the profit next year now the stock market is at a covid bounce will be greater than the loss

in all independent comparisons the nfu mutual comes out as one of the top performing insurance companies

Opened the info pack for voting and was surprised to see such high remuneration and bonuses, given the current financial backdrop.
Not good PR at the very least!!!

I don’t think the members will notice, they’ve been sanctioning Lindsay Sinclair’s annual pay increase with little more than a nod for 12 years, right up to the 1st of April when he decided to retire.

Sadly or rightly, these huge sums can be earned in the private sector. However you have to be at the top of your game. There won’t be much job security either (boo hoo I hear you cry) . Bankers, heads of multi nationals all earn this money. To bring it back to earth. A Wally or so called celeb on Instagram can earn the same if not more for being an “Influencer” some people deserve and jolly well earn these big salaries through years of hard work, putting their family and life second. Some just have big boobs.

It would be helpful to see salaries of others in other sectors As well at that level for comparison.

yes figures are high but how many in the UK are earning that much as a % of total employed !?

sadly I think this is the reality of such people at the top of the tree.
