No RHI

Im involved with a lot of rhi audits as i have a few installations, i have noticed that ofgem are looking through some old applications i have made and they are using a company called "Ricardo" to visit site and carry out heat loss calculations as well as EPC if they have them so i have concluded that a sweeping audit wave is on the horizon or i just squeeze every penny i can get out of a properties value in RHI, lol, but i have nothing to worry about because all are above board.

With councils i cannot answer as each one has their own personal view of interpreting legislation (sometimes i find council officials use their own personal view) so if its not installed then make an enquiry stating to be used as a secondary back up with your case that supply cannot be relied upon and i couldn't see them knocking LPG but i would cast doubt on oil if new build but retro im not sure.

if you have rhi then definitely notify ofgem of a second source or they'll withdraw your application and make you pay all your rhi back unless its on its own circuit or on metered which may result in void rhi if under EPC.

with heat pumps the bit you need to look at is the COP (coefficient of performance) it gives the performance at different temperatures, they all work as expected when the temperature is in the teens but what sorts out the men from the boys is when the temp gets down to just above zero, and also some heat pumps actually use an electric immersion heater inside the machine to give you the extra 10 deg because they struggle to get to 60deg.

Some of them have an immersion heater inside them to allow them to grt to 60deg. Getting to 60 is mandatory for water regs.

The electric element on our hot water cylinder ASHP system is programmed to come on once every 14 days and heat the cylinder up to destroy legionella bacteria.

Thans for that, interesting that Ofgem have tasked a company to carry out the audits. Quick look at the website and lots and lots of corporate-speak and buzzwords

I suspect the local Council here would not give a fig, it was not an issue when we go PP for the rebuild of the farmhouse.

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
