What thats mad. The only appeal of no-till is the ability to use it when it fits the rotation without comprising yield. No
It looked to me like it was going to be a 3yr option so wouldn’t be able to be rotational either
Where’s the environmental benefit to no till 1 year then plough it the 2 years after? What thats mad. The only appeal of no-till is the ability to use it when it fits the rotation without comprising yield.
Plant some deep rooting cover it will be back to normal in no timeMy issue with this is how do you rectify stuff in years like this, we have areas where water has stood for nearly 6 months now and will have to be lifted and i don;t mean a few bits I mean 15% before we go back in with the sabre tine
on the flatlift, sounds like a plan thats what we do anyway, it is low distrubance just not sure you could call it no tillPlant some deep rooting cover it will be back to normal in no time
Yes broadcast deep rooting cover crop seed with the applicator on the subsoiler that will work , the cover crop will do all the work ignore the subsoiler pretend it wasn’t there.on the flatlift, sounds like a plan
Please don't offend the flatlift it identifies as a drill.Yes broadcast deep rooting cover crop seed with the applicator on the subsoiler that will work , the cover crop will do all the work ignore the subsoiler pretend it wasn’t there.
In the pilot they limited the operational depth which; despite being impossible to police; is probably the only way they could define ‘no till’ but I’m sure I’ve read LD subsoiling will be allowed.I would like to know what they are going to class as no til ! I know several no tillers who subsoil use harrows , light carrier type discs and still call claim they practice no till how will it be policed? . I could subsoil and follow with my combie drill and call my self a no tiller or even in the right conditions drill straight into stubble with a cultivator drill .
So can I LD subsoil then run my combie or Freeflow 40/50 mm deep and claim I’m saving the planet .In the pilot they limited the operational depth which; despite being impossible to police; is probably the only way they could define ‘no till’ but I’m sure I’ve read LD subsoiling will be allowed.
I hope notIf I ploughed and combi-drilled to establish winter wheat in autumn 23, but then no-till drill a catch crop 10th August '24 after the wheat, then plough and combi drill some winter barley in same field 1st Oct '24..... will I be able to claim for a SFI no-till drill payment?

But how would you police it ?% Previous crop stubble disturbance would be much better way
