should Trump knock them out before they get too nuclear armed? Tough call, I think they should as they are totally out of control and can't see why china won't support the us,when they have a rouge state on their doorstep.

No by doing that he ll do exactly what the funny haired guy wants. And kill innocent people in the process. What is wrong with diplomacy, communication? A phone call would be cheaper, dialogue, no threats.
History shows that these type of ultimatums don t work, he is going to have another Vietnam in his hands.

I m growing tired of being told who my enemies are. I don t think Iran NK or Syria are more dangerous to our safety then Saud Arabia, Israel,Pakistan or the USA
Let s go back on history and ask why NK does even exist, aye yes western interference.

Tough one this - been following with interest for many years now.

Definite western hypocrisy in terms of who is and isn't 'allowed' or deemed 'fit' to have WMD. On the other hand this is without doubt one of, it not the most tyrannical and unpredictable regime on this earth - we have gone to war on humanitarian grounds over far less. As we write millions living in simply intolerable conditions, purges, labour camps, public executions, starvation etc etc.

A confirmed deliverable nuclear weapon will allow this to continue indefinitely - its kind of now or never in that sense. The calculation is effectively balancing North Korean lives saved against those lost in neighbouring countries though...

we can blame usa for everything, but the truth is they have saved our bacon twice, and generally are the world police, because of their shear size and military strength (aswell as being a democracy).

its a bit like saying a school doesnt need a head master everyone will look after themselves, i just dosnt work, you need someone who will make decisions, not always popular and fair but make the best job of keeping peace and order.

i think once they are nuclear dependant, north korea are too bloody dangerous to have around..

We have had 8 years of that and it's achieved nothing, all it's done is allow him to build up a nuclear arsenal. I Am not saying that trump should bomb them now but his new stance has certainly brought China to the table and things might change for the better

I don t think the previous admin tried any diplomatic avenues at all, quite the opposite. And rtrump is just gonna go along the same line just more ' willy-wagging' but that s just about it.
China is gonna do what s good for China but will not betray old friends.
The only people who are going to profit from all this are the one in the arm industry and u know China s got a lot of steel.

None of us know exactly what Trump and Xi Jinping talked about at their get together. It's possible that they have hatched a cunning plan to deal with North Korea. Certainly part of that plan may be that China will rant and rave against any USA intervention, but my betting is that they would really like the USA to sort matters out.

I cannot see Trump just opting for the wait and see approach. It cannot be too long before Kim Jong Un decides to drop one of his nuclear bombs on a west coast USA city. Probably got his eyes on Seattle!

The problem is of course that NK has a massive arsenal of conventional weapons, all pointing at South Korea, where there are over 25,000 American troops based. So how to sort out Kim, without turning the eastern seaboard of China into a radioactive hell hole, which would pee off Beijing somewhat, has become a huge dilemma.

The truth is that this should have been sorted out under Obama's watch, not left until the Fat Boy not only had nuclear weapons, but the ability to deliver them. As things stand now, his intercontinental missile could just about reach the UK. Sobering thought.

Probably the countries around there will sleep a bit easier with him gone,as for China it won't want to be on the losing side and they won't want an idiot on their border with nuclear weapons

What had NK done that the USA hasn't. FFS. how about starved the majority of its population for far too long. Get a grip. China could move that muppet on tomorrow if they wanted. It's on them. He's a far greater threat than IS. jtt
go in and kill a load of them then they will feel better for that (y)

I respect your opinion(y)@willy but you know I m just gonna desagree or have a different view on everything you just stated above.:D:whistle:
Only one thing actually no I would not blame everything on the USA, sometimes it s just left holding the baby.
In regards to NK its nuclear capability is overstated, and even if, I think Pakistan with its islamist terrorist connection poses more of a treath to me than NK. Have u ever heard of a terrorist attack from NK? me neither(y)

Just leave them alone, why do we want another war ?? Havent enough innocent people been slaughtered. North Korea is all talk no substance, they failed numerous times with their missile tests so what makes you think they could even nuke america.

I've seen no evidence that they have a 'deliverable' nuclear weapon as it stands but that clock is ticking, conventional forces and artillery aimed at Seoul are a genuine concern as is the possibility of a chemical attack using shorter ranged missiles (Japan etc) - again the neighbours paying the price for any intervention.

Having said that IF (and its a big IF) the Chinese were genuinely on side and there was no tip off or warning to Pyongyang then that carrier strike group and associated assets in the area could deliver getting on for a thousand tomahawk cruise missiles within an hour - DPRK long range missile, WMD, radar and targeting facility locations will be well known and wiped out before they've had a chance to close the door.

Its the artillery north of the DMZ targeting Seoul and mobile short range missiles that are more of a problem, these missiles are liquid fueled though so fair lead time to use, satellites will be watching with targeted strikes as soon as anything breaks cover, turns on radar etc, plus if central command and control is already obliterated then little prospect of organisation and successful launches anyway.

Not saying its straightforward but from my reading I think with a Chinese blind eye the DPRK could be neutered militarily very very quickly.

Why?
What NK did to us to warrant such an attack?
