1st cut all in and finished on Saturday morning, two pits covered for lunchtime Saturday. Time to relax….

Grass is heavier here for the middle of May, cut back 25kg on the fert and was about 10 days later of sowing. Mild winter has helped I think, very little frost or snow or maybe we've sowing too much fert for years.

Don't know the reason, but I find when mowing round the country some seasons grass is thicker and some seasons slurry grows more grass than usual. This season seems to be both. Didn't get ours in but contractor is 500 acre closer at least. Just need an accurate good forecast! 🤦🏼‍♂️

On Thursday 26th September, we’re holding a webinar for farmers to go through the guidance, actions and detail for the expanded Sustainable Farming Incentive (SFI) offer. This was planned for end of May, but had to be delayed due to the general election. We apologise about that.

Farming and Countryside Programme Director, Janet Hughes will be joined by policy leads working on SFI, and colleagues from the Rural Payment Agency and Catchment Sensitive Farming.
