Not a drought thread

Think I much preferred when we had drought threads on here. It’s rained nearly every day here and the forecast for next 2 weeks is wet as well, got nothing ready yet to cut but it’s pissing me off.
Nothing over ready yet, apart from 10 acre destined for hay. Another week, winter barley will be struggling, two weeks of rain forecast.

But wee'd off too.

We had 5,000 spare caulie plants, so ploughed up some very poor drought damaged spring barley, last Thursday it was just like talcum powder, what had been ploughed months ago was a bit sticky.

Lot of rain since, not sodden but wet now.

Seems to be the same the world over. Goes from drought to sodden. We were wet coming out of winter and got started seeding later than normal. Rain stopped and had weeks of hot drying winds. Some areas still have yet to see total germination. Getting dust control showers here fir the past 6 weeks but the ground is cracked open. Past two weeks have been well below normal July temperatures but back to low 30s by Monday. Crops will suffer if no rain comes. A friend 10 miles away had 2 1/2 inches in half an hour last night at his yard, fields a mile either side got next to nothing as did we. So glad I’ve got heavy black soil.

Here in "rainy" North Wales I'm hoping for rain every time I watch the forcast... If you can believe it!!! Meant to have a wet afternoon today, not a drop yet!!
Where is your farm then?
We are normally very dry here near StAsaph, and it was like Death Valley here in June, but we’re getting a bit too much rain now!

Knew fine the drought thread got started way to early this year!! It was bound to breakdown to this…. Lots of fields of spring barley with burnt bits regrowing and the bits that were good have flat spots from the heavy rain…. Quality is going to be very variable to say the least
