Nugent flatbed

I bought a nugent tri-axle 16ft flat bed with sides in October 2022 and arrived in February last year. Pulls well although not light. Tie down points aren’t maybe the greatest and preferred the previous trailers tie down points. But no rattles a year on and she is loaded heavy every day carrying fencing materials. Tyres are wearing quick mind you but suppose that’s to be expected with tri axle. Paid £5600 for it. Trade in I bought at £2800 in 2018. Got £2900 as a trade in.

Yes, very similar prices from 2 dealers:
14' tandem axle (wooden floor with sides) £4350
14' triaxle (wooden floor with sides) £4500
12 tandem axle (wooden floor with sides) £4150
Ramps another £450

All with LED lights, spare wheel and tie down points.

12' tandem axle is 675 kg unladen weight, 14' triaxle is 870kg (presumably without the sides or ramps).

From the website, it says : Coupled with Dual Drive™ suspension, this makes for a ‘reduced rattles trailer’. We like 'reduced rattles' trailers here. 😂
How wide?

What did you buy in the end @neilo ? I’m debating 14 or 16ft twin or tri…and is it worth going to wider width 😅

I’ve gone with a secondhand one that came up locally instead. A 12’ Debon (Polish) tipper on tandem axles.
Wasn’t really looking for a tipper, but would be handy sometimes, and the price was right, for a very well designed trailer.

I find worth more advantageous than length😉
I spec my trailer 7ft wide but with 6’6” axles. You’ve a bit more chance of missing kerbs if wheels slightly narrower
That’s what she said 🙊

Nugent don’t make a 7ft whatever width 14ft which is a bit annoying (according to website)

That was my biggest reservation with the Debon, as it’s only 6’ wide. I figured, the only time I’m going to need extra width is to move quadrants occasionally, and 3 sheets of ply would solve that one cheaply enough.🤷‍♂️

Do you have some pictures? I am looking for a tipper but like you said, mental money second hand.

No, I'm still waiting on it as the vendor has it's bigger replacement on order (due any day now).

There is a dealer that sells on eBay, that has several photos of most models on there.
You swap a couple of pins round and it will tip to the rear, or to either side. Quite a clever design I thought.

I have two Nugent’s, 10ft tipper and 16ft tri axle flat.

I’d rate the flat, I opted for it due to higher tyres. It does all I want and some; I have to renew the floor but there’s not much or anything that I don’t like.

the new ones have a slightly different bed; not sure if it’s better or stronger or just cheaper make?

I carry a lot of different kit and use rubber mats to help dampen; and it’s the mats that’s rotted the boarding.

i think new ones have more tie down points inside the trailer which Allows you to use sides; so I’m going to try this when I replace floor.

axles are lower rated I think 1200kg/1500kg but a trailer parts supplier for Nugent and other trailers told me it’s not a problem if you don’t exceed 3500kg and that trailer won’t be as bouncy as a tri axle with 2000 kg axles.

nugent use diff bearings to ifor and need to be tightened occasionally.
