Objecting to a Bridleway.

There is a Private Road running through our Farm which carries a Public Footpath.
The Council has announced in the Local Paper that they want to upgrade the Footpath to a Bridleway.
I want to object to the upgrade, I always thought that the Council should have erected notices at the start of where they want the modification order to start (i.e on my road) but none were erected.
Its only by pure chance that I came across the information and I only have a few days to mount a defence.
I believe that there may be specialist Solicitors who deal in this sort of thing, can anyone recommend any particular firm.
Or recommend a Text Book I can buy to help me with what to do.
I do have Legal Expense Insurance with the NFU but I dont know if this would be covered.

Sounds like procedure isn’t being followed, which I suspect could stop it in its tracks.

Bridleways don’t have dual status; it’s either a bridleway or not.
I think you will find some still do still carry a higher status of vehicular ROW

NERC in 2006 was meant to extinguish higher vehicular status. downgrading to a BW or RB

However some vehicular action groups like LARA and TRF have argued that this in the High Court and won their case

So all may not appear, as it seems and they have taken on the Councils/Landowners and won the day

All I’m saying is that a bridleway is a bridleway. However, there are also Boats (byway open to all traffic).
