OMG Slugs!

Have you seen the size of the monster slugs lurking in the field at the moment? This Spanish slug spotted today in my spring beans. There were many, many more. I was pleased with the clover understory. But now I wonder if my wheat will be drilled into a slug soup. Anyone else found some whoppers?

Hi Tom, I keep getting a lot of large ones outside my house every morning which hasn't happened before in such numbers. I have also had to us many more slug pellets than ever before on my establishing osr and now we have had about 80mm of rain in the last 7 days so it will be interesting to see how many we find in the Slimers wheat plots this year!

I saw what I now believe to be a vulgaris on the path into the kids school this week... it was f'ing massive! Probably similar length to the one in your picture but was as wide as an extra jumbo, jumbo sausage rather than that chipolata. It probably chases off the local blackbirds and hedgehogs and would be even money in a fight with a badger! I hope they prefer eating other slugs than crops! :nailbiting:
