A bit of useless but interesting information regarding the history of zero till.
My good friend Keith Head from Saskatoon ,Saskatchewan has just been on a tour of Northern Alberta ,to Whitehorse in the Yukon with his old friend and business colleague Jim Halford visiting a few old farmers who purchased Conserva Pak seeders. Jim Halford is a Saskatchewan farmer who invented the "Conserva Pak". zero till drill.
The Conseva Pak was the first true zero till machine that could place all the nutrient requirements,at the time of seeding,as well as accurately place the seed, including small seeds such as canola and flax.It was way ahead of its time till a certain company copied it, there was unfortunatly an expensive court case ,which can be read about if one is that way inclined.
The Conserva Pak principle must have been quite good ,as a few years ago John Deere approached Jim to ask if he would be prepared to sell the Conserva Pak brand to them ,which he did ,leading to John Deere Conserva Pak airseeder.
