Geting sick of orange iron slowing presure and blocking valves and pipes we remkve boreholes every 6 month put in a chemical bath recirculate to clean pump works very well they come out like new after 24hrs but we cant use on pipes as cows would drink it so we consfantly remove ball cocks and go round with compressor blowing out sections at a time every few month's does anybody else use any products that could be used with the cows to clean the syestem easily

We cook a bore pump far too regularly with iron deposits. Bore specialists say pump to 10k tank then blow bubbles Through as mentioned then-secondary pump for pressure. This was on our winter to do list !

air in high iron water will make it drop out of the system
have heard the orange colouring is not iron it's self but. a bacteria that feeds on iron have springs here with the orange colouring in them mostly still water. with lack of air in it
of. pumped in to a tank and sprayed so mixed with air then water is taken part way up take the iron should sink to bottom just got to drain out bottom of tank now and then to remove iron scum

Haven't tried it yet but pruex say their water additive will keep pipes clean and improve water quality
It does. I use it and now if you disconnect a drinker the pipe inserts are clean, they always used to be stained orange. Saying that our iron levels aren’t through the roof, just over the legal human consumption limit last time we tested it. The house is mains and we have no filtration at all from the borehole

We used to call it Marmalade, it always seemed to appear a few days after a very heavy downpour. As a matter of course we changed the pump every 12 months, having 2 bores on 2 farms we always held a spare pump at the water company.

ummmmm ill give yer a bell about that our water here high in iron and mag not bad but getting up there
This was "bad water", like the OP.
Even the vacuum pump couldn't handle the water if the sand-filter went on the fritz, literally we had two bores and two pumps to keep one going. Got pretty used to pulling the pumps up and cleaning the iron and "marmite" out of them.

It was a basic plastic tub on a stand, lid on top (to get the sand in and out) with a loop of conduit full of number-holes rigged to a secondary pump for backflushing - the circuit would shut the bore off for a few minutes every hour and flush all the crap out of the sand and then start it up again
