Sunflower is relatively big seeded which is a disadvantage, but not relevant if you have it available and unused anyway.

I would do this but don't think it works with clearfield OSR and I just can't grow clean OSR without clearfield

I'm going to try some berseem clover on half a field. I just want to have a go with something fairly cheap and easy. It will get spread off the back of the drill via the avadex applicator. I know it's safe to use metazachlor, waiting to hear from my agronomist regarding Centium.

I'm going with straight berseem clover this year. Have done a berseem-vetch mix before, but don't like having to spray the vetch out in the spring, I'm interested to hear that flea beetle like vetch though. Buckwheat doesn't usually do enough before it is frost killed here, I would try lentils if some seed was available though. Sunflowers might help attract a few slugs away from the rape? Sclerotinia is not a concern at all, as infection only occurs in summer.

Thought about this same with sunflower, they will pull the slugs away from osr !! Will vetch do the same with flea beetle or just direct all beetles around to this field and end up in far more damage than without vetch ??

It seems to me that in our cover crops the flea beetles concentrate on the vetch

10kg/ha as a starting point, will probably vary it a bit from there.

Frost should take it out, even in our relatively mild climate here.
maybe, impossible to quantify really other than to say my crops are MUCH cleaner this year than they have been for a long time, not just CF OSR but all crops, imm using a lot less product to achieve that as well, wheats are spotless and have only had avadex / BWay star, no ally or starane follow ups etc as I often used to

Yes, probably a bit high, it's a bit smaller than rape. As I said, 10kg is a starting point, will go lower with some ... depends on what moisture is about at drilling time.

Doubt there's anything wrong with berseem, but seems a good opportunity to put extra species in.
First time for me so want to keep it simple, will also be in same row as osr. Zero filled with 1inch Dutches and a squirt of 17:17
