I keep hearing of payments for this, is it something that is part of a stewardship scheme, something that's coming in with ELMS or is there a stand alone payment?

Stewardship overwinter stubble £84 Per ha
cannot be on land with risk of runoff for stewardship

I will apply next time fo no overwinter stubble
but will apply for over winter cover crops where spring crops are planned which pays £114 Per ha

The overwinter cover crops - think at moment land has to be in a water protection zone? I looked at the map for South Lincs and east of A1 and in bulk of fens didn't seem to be eligible? Presume you are eligible where you are?

I think when I aplied Land with run off risk or nitrate loss

imho all land destined for spring crops should have a cover crop to reduce nitrate losses
